Cave Castle is a mixture of old and new. The original part of the house has traditional rooms suitably furnished including several with 4 poster beds, but still boasting all mod cons! One room has a 4 poster big enough for Henry VIII and all 6 of his wives with a jacuzzi bath to match, though, sadly no view as some philistine architect sanctioned by a lunatic in the planning department built the new extension just feet away from the window. The modern part offers lift access to more contemporary bedrooms. There is also an annexe called Castle Lodge. This is linked to the main hotel building but direct access requires a very indirect route and one lift up and another lift down, so it’s much easier to go out of the front door, across a small courtyard and into the main hotel building via the door which leads to the restaurant & bar. Breakfast is a buffet  in the restaurant and dinner is served to the table in a private dining room next to the spacious bridge room. The hotel has a swimming pool and gym free to residents. There is a also a spa where treatments can be booked—ask for a price list and its own 18 hole golf course with special rates for guests  - book through the clubhouse.

It is in the village of South Cave in East Yorkshire, a few miles from the historic market town of Beverley with its independent shops, the imposing Beverley Minster and beautiful St Mary’s church, the Humber Bridge and Hull, 2017 City of Culture, with its marina, museums and art gallery and the smallest window in England  in the George Hotel in the Land of Green Ginger.
