We went out for
dinner with our eldest daughter and her partner and came home with a bridge
holiday! The hotel is
positioned on the cliff overlooking Scarborough’s North bay
with great views from Scalby Hill to Scarborough Castle. We didn’t see the
porpoises, but other guests have. It is a family run
hotel and we have been offered a genuine bargain break with no supplements at
all. So the chef can offer us choices form the à la
Carte menu, we have agreed to staggered times for dinner from 5:00 p.m. You
won’t miss out on your free drink either. For those booking an early slot,
Patrick will buy you a drink to accompany your meal. Those taking the later
slots will still have time to enjoy their dinner and be ready for the evening
bridge session. The staff are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. Our
server told us which boat my fish had been landed from! Locally sourced means
exactly that. Warning: bring loose clothing so you can do justice to their
famous Sunday dinner! There are a few
steps up to the front entrance , but the hotel does
have a lift inside. There is a well-lit function room for bridge just across
from the comfortable bar so we should be very happy. Many of the bedrooms
have sea views. Rooms will be allocated on a first come, best served basis.
All the sharing rooms have been refurbished. The process hasn’t reached all
the single rooms. However, I won’t allocate you a room which hasn’t been
refurbished without checking with you first. If you do book a room which
hasn’t been refurbished, you will be offered an upgrade to a double room for
single occupancy at the same rate as everyone else if there are any available
when you check in. The hotel doesn’t have a car park
but the hotel will issue free zone parking permits for the local streets. The hotel isn’t too
far from the promenade running from the North to South bays, Scarborough
Castle, Peasholm Park and the town centre.
