The Makeney Hall Hotel is a new venue for 2026. It is situated in the village of Milford about 6 miles North of Derby. It is set in its own grounds and has plenty of parking. Makeney Hall offers elegant rooms married with modern amenities to create the most comfortable experience possible while still staying true to the Victorian feel that has illuminated the manor and its manicured grounds timelessly. There is a wide selection of bedrooms, ranging from doubles to suites and a spacious bridge room. Many of the rooms are accessed from just outside the original hotel building. Two of these are dedicated disabled rooms. The main hotel has a lift to the first and second floors. There are some steps here and there, so if you have any mobility problems, it is important to let me know so I can offer you the most suitable room.

As a privately owned hotel, you can be sure they will do everything to make you welcome and look after you during your stay.

They do need a £100 non-refundable and non-transferrable deposit per room and all remaining rooms will be withdrawn from sale 60 days before the start of the holiday, so early booking is essential. At this time cancellation fees at the full accommodation rate also apply unless someone else takes the room.

There is lots to see and do in the local area. Patrick and I took in a couple of magnificent National Trust properties when we made our initial inspection visit, but you do need transport. If you can cope with the steep path, the local pub is well worth a visit. It has hardly changed since it was reputedly visited by Dick Turpin and the food definitely does not constitute highway robbery!
