The Skipton Hotel, formerly known as the Rendezvous was a firm favourite with my guests for many years. It is now under new management and we’ve been invited back.

The hotel is on the main Keighley road and backs on to the canal. Behind the hotel and accessible through the car park, there is a canal path which leads to the centre of the market town of Skipton (approximately 1.3 miles away) for those who enjoy a walk away from the traffic . On the opposite side of the road at the front of the hotel, there is a bus stop for those who prefer a more leisurely trip! Skipton itself has a castle and shops and lots of cafes as well as a street market on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. It is known as the Gateway to the Dales for good reason.

The hotel has a gym, spa and swimming pool all accessible to guests.  There is plenty of parking. The bridge room isnow carpeted so not as noisy as it was years ago! The bedrooms are all of a good size and most of them can be accessed by the two lifts. The canal view bedrooms, available for a supplement, look out onto the hills, so as well as the swans on the canal and the barges that travel from Leeds to Liverpool, you will see sheep wandering around. The meals served consist of locally sourced, straight forward, honest to goodness food.

The hotel needs a £50 non-refundable and non-transferrable deposit and all remaining rooms will be withdrawn from sale 60 days before the start of the holiday, so early booking is essential. If you cancel by 12 noon 24 hours before the start of the holiday, you will just lose your deposit. After 12 noon you will have to pay for the first night’s stay only.

A £600 function room fee has been introduced, so the bridge fee is an extra £10 for this holiday. If more than 60 people book, the surplus will be donated to charity, if fewer, I will absorb the additional cost.
