The Bedford Hotel is well-placed as a base to explore Lytham St Annes, its promenade, gardens and beaches, the surrounding villages and the shops if you need a little retail therapy, or as a haven for relaxing and unwinding.

This family-owned hotel prides itself on having 3 AA silver stars and being one of only two hotels on the Fylde Coast with an AA Rosette restaurant, with local and seasonal produce being at the heart of its dishes. How they have managed to hold on to such an excellent team of chefs beats me! There is a coffee shop at the front of the hotel where you can buy lunch or afternoon tea.

Bridge is played in the rather magnificent ballroom. There are 4 steps down into the bridge room, It is possible to have level access if you go outside the building and around to the rear door and Patrick has a bit of wheelchair driving experience!

The bedrooms are regularly refurbished. There is a good selection of singles, twins and doubles with a choice of baths or showers. The reception staff are very knowledgeable about the rooms, so you can always consult them when you pay your deposit to check the details of the one I have allocated to you. Because the hotel has expanded into neighbouring buildings in the past, the lift does not reach all parts of the hotel and there are short flights of stairs and the odd steps here and there. I have counted them all so will be able to tell you if this is a problem.

There is a regular bus service to Lytham in one direction and Blackpool in the other. The area also has Patrick’s favourite crazy golf course where he scored his first hole in one!
